The room is situated in the part of the Winter Palace
once occupied by the apartments of the ladies-in-waiting. Today it
houses the collection of works by Auguste Rodin, the most celebrated
sculptor of the late 19th - early 20th centuries. The display allows
one to trace the main stages of Rodin's creative life, the evolution
of his artistic devices as well as the new opportunities for sculptural
art opened by the master. Among the nine exhibited sculptures are:
Bronze Age (1871), Eternal Spring (after 1884), The Poet and His Muse
(1905), Romeo and Juliet (1905), Portrait of V. S. Eliseyeva (1906)
and Portrait Mask of Khanako (1908). |
