Opening of the State Hermitage Museum's Internet Center On 7 December, 2001, a largest museum-based Internet Center was opened in the Rastrelli Gallery of the Winter Palace which resulted from a joint project launched by the State Hermitage Museum and ZAO CafeMax. The project was also supported by Samsung Electronics, IBM and Coca Cola which have a long record of cooperation with the Hermitage. The Internet Center is equipped with 24 computers which have high-speed access to the Internet. At visitors' disposal are e-mail and free access to the State Hermitage Museum's web pages. Information may be quickly obtained from other largest museums of the world due to the easier access to their sites. The project's special know-how is the option of creating and mailing of electronic postcards with pictures of masterpieces displayed at the Hermitage or the sender's own picture taken by him/her with the use of a web camera installed in the Internet Center. The Internet Center has a cafeteria. |
