Small-size glasses appeared in Muscovite Russia in the late 16th - early 17th century, when vodka and strong wine were introduced into Russia. A contemporary craftsman decorated his work with the traditional symbol characteristic of the 18th-century court tableware - the Russian Imperial crown.
