A sterling silver handmade reproduction of a bronze pendant (8th-9th century) discovered during the excavations of an Alanian warrior burial site (North Causacus). The stylized image of the camel, inscribed into a circle, is a remarkable example of the ancient masters' magnificent sense of shape. Animal pendants were attached to armored belts, not only for decoration, but also for protection against evil. Sterling silver. Diam. 1 1/2 in. (3.5 cm). Comes in a gift box, crafted from Karelian birch. |
