This goblet is made by a contemporary artist of cobalt glass, which has been traditionally fashionable in Russia since the reign of Catherine II. The goblet displays an engraved and gilded double-headed Eagle, the emblem of the Russian Empire, which would grace the ware produced by the Imperial porcelain and glass factories and would be presented as gifts showing the royal honor to courtiers or used at formal royal dinners.
