Glass Bearing the Monogram PPC (Petrus Primus Caesar)
Glass Bearing the Monogram PPC (Petrus Primus Caesar)
Zoom

This glass hand-decorated with engraving is an adaptation of an item in the Hermitage collection. The original with the monogram PPC that stands for Petrus Primus Caesar (Emperor Peter I) was made at the glassworks in Jamburg in the first quarter of the 18th century. The monogram beneath a crown is framed with elegant plant ornament. On the other side of the vessel you can see an amusing insect that seems to have just alighted on the glass by chance.

Glass.
