Suprematist Teapot and Cups
Suprematist Teapot and Cups
Panorama Zoom

This tea set is based on the original made in the Suprematist style (also known as Geometric Abstractionism) after a design by Kasimir Malevich at the St Petersburg Lomonosov Porcelain Factory in the 1920s. The design of the teapot possibly presents Malevich's concept of a teapot in general. The combination of diametrically opposite forms-three-dimensional and flat, round and rectangular-creates a striking effect.

Hand-molded porcelain.
Teapot: 6 1/4 x 9 1/2 x 4 in.
(16 x 24 x 10 cm);
cup: 2 3/4 x 5 1/8 x 2 1/4 in.
(7 x 13 x 5.5 cm).
