Cuirassiers were introduced into the Russian army in 1730. Their training was above praising, their discipline known as iron. In battles they acted as a special reserve used at the decisive moment. The present set includes a standard-bearer and two soldiers of the Guards Cuirassiers Regiment from the period of the war with Napoleon (1812). The high-quality figurines have been hand-painted by recognized St Petersburg craftsmen. They will complement any collection of military miniatures. Tin; casting and hand-painting. Height 2 1/8 in.
