On 6 December 2016, during the Hermitage Days, an event was held for corporate members of the Friends Club marking the club’s 20th anniversary.
The evening began with a welcome from Mikhail Borisovich Piotrovsky, General Director of the State Hermitage, and an awards ceremony for sponsors and patrons of the museum looking back at 2016.
After the ceremony, Nikolai Maximovich Tsiskaridze, Rector of the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet, congratulated those present on the occasion and, as a present to the Hermitage and the Friends Club, students of the Academy performed a suite from the ballet The Fairy Doll.
The guests of the evening were given the unique opportunity to visit the exhibition “From the Dinner-Service Storerooms. Decorating the Russian Imperial Table in the Eighteenth to Early Twentieth Centuries” before its official opening, as well as the exhibition of Hans Memling’s Allegory of Innocence.
The event ended with the traditional festive reception organized with the support of long-standing members of the Friends of the Hermitage Club, the cluster of hotels belonging to the Marriott Group and the Hennessy Social-Cultural Foundation, as a present for the Club’s 20th birthday.
Cocktails were served to the accompaniment of live music from a string quartet.
