On 11 December 2017, during the Hermitage Days, the General Staff building was the setting for the Saint Petersburg Influence Ratings ceremony, a joint event organized by the State Hermitage, the newspaper Fontanka.ru and the magazine Gorod 812.
Gorod 812 and Fontanka.ru have been publishing influence ratings since 2008. This year, for the first time, it was decided to present awards to the winners. The ratings are based on the opinions of 122 experts and cover eleven different categories.
The top 30 of the most influential people in Saint Petersburg according to this year’s results was headed by the city’s Governor Georgy Poltavchenko. Also in the top five, along with the speaker of the Legislative Assembly Viacheslav Makarov, Chairman of Rossiya Bank Yury Kovalchuk, and Vice-Governor Igor Albin, was General Director of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky. He was also the winner in the category “Most Influential People in Saint Petersburg Culture”.
The participants in the awards ceremony chose the most significant event of the past year. The choice fell on the opening of the full length of the “Western High-Speed Diameter” toll road.
The awards ceremony was accompanied by the Tavrichesky International Symphony Orchestra conducted by its artistic director Mikhail Golikov.
Special guests of the evening were Darya Pavlenko, prima ballerina of the Mariinsky Theatre, and the outstanding jazz musician and composer David Goloshchekin.
