The Museum as Historian of the “Dialogue and Conflict of Cultures”

The right of museums to engage in research work has to be constantly defended and won anew. Today we have it; whether we will tomorrow is unclear. In the light of this, it is useful to direct public and academic attention to the theoretical significance of what in simple terms is called “the history of the collections” (a favourite theme for museum people) and “the history of the displays”.
